During the 2022/2023 season our teams monitored eight sites across four locations at Magnetic Island and two sites at Middle Reef, which is located between Magnetic Island and the Mainland. Average hard coral cover was 43% with rock being the second dominant substrate (this includes rock covered with turf algae). Once again Nelly Bay had high levels of macroalgae (mostly Sargassum) which makes it difficult to see the corals! Check out the full report here: Townsville Season Summary Report 2023
