Partnering with a variety of local dive groups and industry partners, since this time a total of 10 RCA monitoring sites have been established along the Sunshine Coast from Caloundra to Coolum to allow for a detailed representation of reefs within the area. The sites were selected to represent high biodiversity areas, the diverse array of environmental influences, and current or potential high community use areas.
A total of 10 Reef Check Australia annual reef health survey sites were monitored in 2017; building on data collected over the previous 11 years for the region. A full report from this data will be available soon.
Starting in 2016, the Reef Check Australia dataset is now used as annual supplementary marine condition information for the Healthy Waterways Report Card.
