Join Our Scuba Surveyor Team On the Gold Coast!

If you're Gold Coast based, a PADI Advanced Open Water diver, or equivalent, and you've always wanted to get more involved in reef research then this training is for you!

Long-term citizen science reef health monitoring is at the core of what we do. As such, this program supports regional capacity building and we are seeking volunteers who live locally and wish to stay involved over multiple survey seasons.

Reef Check Australia SCUBA Surveyor training is a fun way to meet a tribe of reef-mind people, find out more about our beautiful reefs, boost your dive skills and build your capacity to actively contribute to scientific research. You don't need to have previous science or survey experience--we'll provide you with comprehensive training to safely collect great quality data to help look after reefs.

PLEASE NOTE: To participate on a Reef Check Australia course, you must hold an Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent, 25 logged dives (including 2 in the past 6 months). To join surveys, you will need at a minimum: A PADI AQF Rescue Diver certification or equivalent, 30 logged dives, current commercial dive medical (AS2299), current gear servicing for BCD and regulator, and access to your own SCUBA gear. You may choose to hold additional dive accident insurance. We will prioritise training for those who are ready to hop in and survey!
