Beeswax Wraps for the Reef

Beeswax Wraps for the Reef!

We are excited to announce our latest Ocean Action Kit ‘DIY Beeswax Wraps’ in time for your quarantine craft mission!

Single use plastic has long been on the target list for Reef Check Australia (and most of us!) and so we thought we would utilise our somewhat enforced downtime to make some super cute beeswax wraps just in time for Mothers day!  Interested?  Read on!

Beeswax wraps are all the rage.  But what the heck are they, and why should we make and/or use them? Beeswax wraps are simply pieces of fabric (usually cotton), infused with all natural, food grade beeswax. The wraps are mouldable, grippable and tacky. Beeswax is naturally antibacterial, making it safe and easy to wrap around food products and containers whilst eliminating the need for single use plastic wrap options.  They smell nice, are easy to make, and can be used again and again; simply rinse them clean with cold water and mild soap.

If you haven’t tried them yet, beeswax wraps are an easy and eco-friendly alternative to plastic packaging. They fill your fridge with fun and happy prints while reducing your impact on our reefs and oceans. Sold?  Check out our simple DIY guide below, join in our FB live event this Saturday at 10.30am at: https://www.facebook.com/events/844852332686180/ and start reducing your single-use plastic use!
