General Manager (Mon, Weds, Thurs)
Joanne’s skills represent a unique blend of Finance & Marine Science, combining over a decade's worth of experience as a Management Accountant in both the UK and Australia with a Bachelor of Marine Science Honours degree with a major in marine biology & ecology from The University of Queensland. She also has a long history of working in the charity sector, being a part of Girl Guiding both in Australia and the UK as a member and a leader for more than 20 years as well as working closely with project managers as part of her management accountant role for the charity The Refugee Council whilst living in the UK.
Joanne has always had a love of the ocean, spending many summers growing up on holiday in the central NSW coast, and becoming a real passion when she learnt to dive on holiday in Vanuatu at the age of 15. She’s been diving all over the world ever since, from the bracing waters of Iceland to the tropics of the Red Sea, and is a qualified PADI Dive Master. Her passion for conservation was developed whilst studying for her degree and during her honours project, looking into correlations between water quality and sea grass abundance in Moreton Bay.
Joanne brings a unique skill set to the Reef Check Australia team and is excited to be leading the organisation forwards.
