Jaime Kruusmaa

Gold Coast Coordinator - (Casual Hours)

Jaime has an extensive and varied history in the NGO and environmental space in Australia. She completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Wildlife Management and Conservation Management) at the University of Queensland and most recently completed a Masters of Social Change and Development through the University of Newcastle, where her thesis was on the retention of volunteers in citizen science projects.

Her passion for the environment started at a young age, where she acquired her dream job as a zookeeper at the age of 19. She has gone on to work in a range of roles including as a marine park ranger in the Moreton Bay marine park, shore bird monitoring and marine turtle monitoring team leader, environmental education facilitator and a senior Fire Officer.

As an avid citizen science advocate and someone who strongly believes in the power of environmental stewardship, Jaime is excited to have joined the Reef Check Australia’s team and be driving the Gold Coast program.
