Coast To Coral (Brisbane) - The elusive hammerhead sharks of south east Queensland. Who are they and where do they hide?

This month our speaker is Johan Gustafson, a marine ecologist at Griffith University, who runs  multiple shark projects including a hammerhead tagging project in South East Queensland, seeking to determine the movements and behaviours of this species. As part of his research he has tagged a number of Great (S. mokarran) and Scalloped (S. lewini) hammerhead sharks, as well juvenile hammerheads, helping to identify pupping grounds.
The information from this research can be used to inform conservation and management strategies for the sharks along the urbanised areas of South East Queensland coast. His results will also shed light on this magnificent and elusive species.
