Training
Reef Check Australia training courses take place in Port Douglas, Cairns, Townsville, Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast. Our comprehensive courses train you up to be a competent coral reef surveyor able to collect high-quality data on coral reef health. Our normal surveying course includes survey training (using transects, belt and point sampling) substrate identification, and invertebrate and impact identification. Fish surveying and identification is an additional subject. Courses include a minimum of 6 dives. Please note in order to participate on a course you must have a PADI Advanced Open Water certificate (or equivalent) and 25 logged dives. Dive competency will be assessed during training. Deposits of $100 are required to book your place.
